For this week’s Work It Wednesday post, I am fulfilling another YouTube request from someone who chose to remain anonymous. This person stated that they were taking part in a pretty large, prestigious beauty pageant in the coming months and requested a tutorial for a pageant look. I was really into the idea of creating a look for a beauty pageant as it is a style of makeup that I hadn’t tackled before. I researched a lot of different looks from people taking part in small town local pageants to actual winners of the Miss America and Miss Universe pageants and found certain elements that were included in pretty much all of them – very sculpted cheeks, shimmery eye shadows, bold highlighting and bright, glossy lips. I took all these elements and combined them to create a an original Beauty Pageant look! So, check out the tutorial below!
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Creamy Natural
Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer in Moderately Fair
Coty Airspun Loose Powder in Translucent
Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil
Sedona Lace Contour & Blush Palette (deep contour & gold-toned highlight)
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Wonder
TheBalm Nude ‘Tude Eye Shadows in Sleek, Selfish, Sophisticated, Silly, Serious and Stubborn
L’oreal Eye Highlighter Pencil in Peach Chrome
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara in Black
Ulta Lash Blow Out Mascara in Black
Wet N’ Wild Color Icon Lip Liner Pencil in Berry Red
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in Dizzy
Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Peony
So, there you have my very own pageant look! I was really happy with the way that the look came out! I felt like a downright beauty queen myself in this makeup… or maybe just a drag queen. That was something I found really funny about researching the pageant makeup – the similarity between beauty queen makeup and drag queen makeup. Many of the same principles apply for each, although there are also some very distinct differences, as well. It was just something I found interesting. In any sense, keep an eye out Friday for a really awesome and fun Friday Feature that I am very excited to share!
