MAC <3s Music

Beausic, this blog, was created out of my two biggest passions in life, beauty and music. I was really surprised when I created this blog, though, that the name Beausic hadn’t been taken before. In fact, I have Googled the term Beausic since and only found one past incidence of the Beausic name having been used by a guy in Japan, who I believe us actually named Beausic, (which is kind of amazing, if you ask me!) It was really surprising to me that nobody had come up with this combination before, considering how frequently the industries of music and beauty intersect. There is a long history of musicians serving as spokespeople for beauty brands, as well as several brands creating cosmetics lines in collaboration with different artists. One of the biggest beauty brands in the world, who have really set the standard in the beauty industry in many ways, MAC Cosmetics, has also been a real pioneer in creating collections inspired by musicians. In 2013, MAC are continuing this trend with at least two major artist collections coming up soon – MAC x Hayley Williams and, the hugely anticipated collaboration with one of the world’s biggest superstars and style icons, Rihanna, for the Riri <3s MAC collection! Seeing as Rihanna and Hayley are among my favorite artists of recent years, it seemed all too appropriate to do a post showcasing the two of them and their upcoming collections for MAC!

Hayley Williams is lead singer for one of the hottest, and one of my personal favorite, rock bands still working today, Paramore. Paramore are preparing to release their self-titled fourth studio album¬†on April 9, 2013, featuring their brilliant new singles, “Now” and “Still Into You.”¬†On April 9, MAC will also be releasing the MAC x Hayley Williams collection as an online exclusive, featuring a brand new lipstick, a new single eyeshadow, a nail lacquer and a repurposed fan favorite Mineralize Skin Finish in Lightscapade! Each piece in this collection is a vibrant shade of coral or orange, to match Hayley’s signature hair color!

I didn’t actually have to search for images of Hayley to select a look to do a tutorial on because I absolutely fell in love with the look from the April 2013 cover of Nylon Magazine! I absolutely adored this simple, classic winged liner and red-based coral lips! I loved that the skin was so bare and natural with the really bold pop on the lips. Check out my Hayley Williams tutorial below!

Rihanna is a woman who needs no introduction! She is one of the biggest pop stars of recent years, a staple in tabloids and the blogosphere, a major fashion and style icon and recently even a designer, with her recent fashion line in collaboration with retailer River Island. Rihanna has also recently inked a landmark deal for both her and MAC Cosmetics, signing MAC’s first long-term collaboration with a celebrity for the Riri <3s MAC Collection, a brand new color collection being released in 4 separate parts throughout 2013, including a brand new signature red lipstick called Riri Woo, inspired by MAC’s infamous Ruby Woo lipstick. This collection looks like it will be absolutely amazing and the packaging in the picture above looks absolutely stunning!
I recently did a requested tutorial for a really amazing, ultra glam look from Rihanna’s fragrance ads, so for this one I wanted to do something a little different for this tutorial. I happened to recall her Rolling Stone cover from February 2013 ¬†and how amazing the shots from that magazine, shot by the brilliant Terry Richardson, and how she looked so sun-kissed and natural but also really glam and gorgeous! I loved the somewhat raw nature of the images and how beautifully this makeup look reflected that and I was also really happy with the way that this look came out in the tutorial! Check it out for yourself below!

Like I said, I love the fact that there is such an organic intertwining of the beauty and music industries, both of which I love so much and feel so passionate about. After all, without that Beausic wouldn’t really make sense, now would it?! I’m also really excited to see the release of these two collections from MAC, as well as to see what other music and beauty collaborations are still to come! With the crop of stars working today and the plethora of beauty brands out there, it seems impossible for it to ever get boring! Which artists would you guys like to see release beauty lines? I personally think Ke$ha could create or inspire something really cool in terms of beauty products! We’ll see if that winds up happening! While I hold my breath for that, I wish you all a beautiful weekend and a beautiful life!
