Madonna Makeup Series #14: “Hard Candy” Album Cover Makeup Tutorial

The clock is winding down, folks. Yes, it is time for another installment in my Madonna Makeup Series and it’s quite bittersweet this time because this is actually the second to last installment in the series! It’s so crazy to think that I have been doing this series for so long now and, just next month, will be doing a look to represent Madonna’s newest album, “MDNA,” which will close out this series! Let’s not focus on “MDNA” just yet, though. It’s not quite time yet! Instead, it is time for a look from the album, “Hard Candy.” “Hard Candy” was definitely Madonna’s most Hip-Hop influenced record, although it still definitely included some pretty amazing dance and pop tracks, as well. I absolutely loved this album, although it wasn’t exactly Madonna’s most well-received record. It features some real gems, for sure, though, including one of my favorite tracks of Madonna’s career, “Give It 2 Me,” the video for which can be seen below, and the smash hit “4 Minutes” featuring Justin Timberlake.

The look that I am recreating from this era actually comes from the cover of the “Hard Candy” album. I love how simple and minimal the look is, in contrast to the album it is representing. What you all may remember more about this look, though, is the fact that several un-retouched  images from this shoot leaked to the internet around the time that the album was released and people in the media and blogosphere were not very kind about the differences between the airbrushed images and the raw ones. Personally, I didn’t find them to be all that different – aside from some lines being smoothed away, she looked like the same person, just more her actual age. Anyway, check out a couple of inspiration images below!

Like I’ve said before,  I will announce what that one will be in the final episode of the Madonna Series! Needless to say, though, I’m pretty excited about it and I think that it will be a really great series, as well! I really hope that you guys will feel the same! In the meantime, though, I wish you all a beautiful rest of the week and a beautiful life!
