Faces of Beyoncé

Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE fulfilling requests?! I don’t know if I have said it before but I definitely do! I especially love when a request is big enough that I can create a whole Friday Feature post around it! So, I am super excited about this post because it is exactly that! I recently received a request, or two requests, from a YouTube user named Sylvia1256 to do two separate looks from none other than one of the biggest pop superstars of the new millennium and artist behind one of the most anticipated, (and shrouded in mystery,) albums of the moment, Beyonce! Sylvia1256 specifically requested that I do a more casual, every day look from Beyonce, as well as a more dramatic, bolder look! If any artist warrants that type of post it is Beyonce because, in a lot of ways, Beyonce kind of has two different sides. So, let’s take a look at the faces of Beyonce!

First off, there is Beyonce Knowles, soft-spoken, sweet, Texas born and raised, Christian girl next door. This is the soft side, the woman behind some of the most amazing, gorgeous and heart-wrenching ballads, like “If I Were A Boy,” “Dangerously In Love,” “1+1,” and, most recently, my favorite Beyonce song to have popped up in 2013, “Rise Up” from the soundtrack to the film “Epic.” Beyonce is the dedicated wife to Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z and caring mother to Blu Ivy.

For my daytime, casual Beyonce look I immediately knew that I wanted to go with the look that everybody who spends any time watching TV has seen about a million times over the past few months. Yes, I am talking about that Pepsi commercial that plays pretty constantly on TV nowadays. The first time I saw this commercial I really loved her look because it is so youthful and fresh, and very wearable, while still maintaining some sense of drama and a smokey effect that is done in a really interesting way by adding some really sultry grey along the lower lash line in what is otherwise a pretty neutral, warm-toned look. Now, since my skin tone is dramatically different than Beyonce’s I think the look comes off slightly more dramatic than it does on her but I wanted to stick to shades like what would have been used on her, but I also offer up a couple of alternate options for different skin tones in the tutorial! Check it out below!

I’m sure we all remember hearing about Beyonce’s alter ego, Sasha Fierce, right? If not, a few years back Beyonce talked about having an alter ego when she is on stage and really going hard and she named that alter ego Sasha Fierce. Sasha Fierce was such a strong part of Beyonce’s persona that she even named half of an album after her, “I Am… Sasha Fierce.” “I Am” featured more ballads and the softer, regular Beyonce side where “Sasha Fierce” featured the much harder, sexier, more fierce songs, including “Single Ladies,” “Diva,” “Video Phone,” etc. You could say that Sasha Fierce was also the woman behind some of Beyonce’s biggest hits, like “Crazy In Love,” “Run The World,” etc.

For the more dramatic, “Sasha Fierce” look, Sylvia actually requested a specific look – the look Beyonce is currently taking across the globe on her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour! This look is very much in the essence of the Sasha Fierce alter ego and very much an evening appropriate, dramatic, smokey, bold and gorgeous look! I used the Too Faced Pretty Rebel palette for this look, which I am completely obsessed with right now, (and will be posting a review & tutorial for next week!) In the meantime, though, check out this Beyonce tutorial using the palette right now!

Whether Sasha Fierce, the over the top stage persona, or Beyonce Knowles, the human underneath it all, Beyonce is definitely a captivating talent and icon and pretty much always keeps the world waiting with baited breath for whatever her next move may be! That statement has rarely been more true than right here in 2013, as her throngs of fans are falling all over themselves waiting for an announcement of her fifth studio album! Based on the music that has been released so far in 2013, I personally cannot wait to see what this next album has in store! While we all wait for that, though, I wish you all a beautiful weekend and a beautiful life!
