“Pompeii” by Bastille Lyric-Inspired Makeup Tutorial

Are you guys ready for a little Beausic Storytime?! I hope so, because here it comes! So, last weekend were the Golden Globes! Like any good, stereotypical homosexual I love awards shows! Like any good Beauty Blogger/YouTuber, I watch awards shows with a very specific goal in mind – spot the best makeup look to do a tutorial for! I had actually really fallen in love with Reese Witherspoon’s look at the awards show – fresh, bronzed skin and warm golden eyes – and was sitting down to film a tutorial for it! Then, as I was preparing to film, I felt this strange lethargu about the whole thing. Another pretty golden eye look! Don’t get me wrong, I love pretty golden eye looks, (as evidenced by how many I have done already,) but I just wasn’t feeling it at that particular time.
I had music playing throughout all of this, as I usually do, and was listening to an album that I have recently become obsessed with, “Bad Blood” by British band, Bastille. In particular, their single “Pompeii” has been really hitting me in a special way here lately. When I first hear the song, I thought to myself, “These lyrics would really lend themselves to a makeup look.” It’s been so long since I’ve done a “lyric-inspired” look, as well, and all of this came together to say, “This is what you need to be doing right now!” So, first off, for any of you unfamiliar with the song, I have included the music video below! Check it out – this song is amazing and EVERYBODY needs to get familiar with it!
…and now for my tutorial!
